Step 24 Install both forks and handle bars in the triple clamps and temporarily tighten the lower triple clamp bolts. Don't tighten the bolts too much.

 

 

Step 25 Tighten the steering stem head nut to 65 lb-ft (90 N-m, 9.0 kgf-m) using a 36 mm socket..

Step 26 Set the height of upper surface of fork tube from the upper surface of the upper triple clamp to your liking. Height recommended by factory service manual is 4.0 mm. However, we set it to 10 mm on our bike to quicken steering response. Tighten the lower triple clamp bolts to 16.5 lb-ft (23 N-m, 2.3 kgf-m) and recheck the surface height of the fork tube. Tighten the upper triple clamp bolts to 16.5 lb-ft (23 N-m, 2.3 kgf-m). Set handlebars by tightening their set bolts to 7.0 lb-ft (10 N-m, 1.0 kgf-m). Tighten the handlebar clamp bolts to 16.5 lb-ft (23 N-m, 2.3 kgf-m).  

  Step 27 Install the steering damper and tighten the bolt and nut to 16.5 lb-ft (23 N-m, 2.3 kgf-m).
Step 28 Install the front wheel and hand-tighten the front axle temporarily.  

 

Step 29 Install both front brake calipers and tighten their mounting bolts to 18.1 lb-ft (25 N-m, 2.5 kgf-m). Tighten the front axle to 72.5 lb-ft (100 N-m, 10.0 kgf-m). Before tightening the two axle pinch bolts on the right fork leg, remove the ceiling tie-downs, remove the front stand, put the front wheel on the ground, apply front brake and move front forks up and down 4 or 5 times by applying pressure on the handle bars Tighten the two axle pinch bolts to 16.5 lb-ft (23 N-m, 2.3 kgf-m).

Step 30 Install the ram air ducts, fuse box and bodywork.
