Step
22
Unscrew the shock absorber linkage and cushion rod mount. Remove
the spacers and feel the movement of rollers of bearings with your
fingers. The rollers should move without any stiction. Replace bearing(s)
if you feel any stiction or hesitation in the movement. Clean the
spacers and bearing surfaces with a rag to remove old grease. Inspect
the spacers for damage; replace if necessary. Apply a high-quality
bearing grease liberally to the bearings and spacers. Reinstall
the spacers and bearings. Reintall the linkage to the frame by torquing
the linkage mounting nut to 78 N-m (7.8 kgf-m, 56.5 lb-ft). Reintall
the cushion rod to the mount on the linkage by torquing the cushion
rod mounting nut to 78 N-m (7.8 kgf-m, 56.5 lb-ft). |

if bike is so equipped. Route the brake hose and tighten the hose
union bolt, with new washers, to 23 N-m (2.3 kgf-m, 16.5 lb-ft)
with a 12mm socket wrench. Bleed air from the brake system after
installation of the hose. Carefully place the swingarm stand under
